My Prof for Mac.

One app, one download. It runs entirely on your machine — there is no web version, because the whole point is that your material never goes anywhere.

Why it's a big download

The models My Prof runs locally are inside the app rather than on a server. That is what lets it work with no signal at all, and what stops your material from ever needing to leave the machine. You pay for that once, at download, instead of every time you use it.

The first five minutes

  1. Open the disk image and drag My Prof onto Applications, then open it from there. It opens in its own window, like any Mac app; no browser is involved, and nothing on your network can reach it.
  2. Sign in with the email address and password on your account.
  3. Add a class, then add whatever you have — the slide deck, the chapter you were told to read, a handout, your own notes.
  4. As you go through it, press Drop pin whenever you lose the thread. The first time you record, macOS asks whether My Prof may use the microphone.

Your material lives in ~/Library/Application Support/My Prof. Deleting the app leaves it; deleting that folder removes it for good. The app checks for updates on its own, about once an hour.

Have your account ready before it opens

Make your account now and it will be waiting. When the app opens for the first time it asks for your email address and password — the same account, with whatever plan you are on already attached to it.
